Happy New Year! I’m so thankful for all the love and support you’ve continued to send, and I wanted to share a quick update on where things stand right now.
After I was discharged, I ended up having to return to the ER due to a severe rash that developed. The rash was either caused by graft-versus-host disease or a reaction to one of my medications. I was started on steroids and will be on them for at least a month while they slowly wean me off.
I’ve been recovering at home for the last several weeks, and the recovery process has definitely taken a lot out of me. I’ve been feeling very fatigued and tired, which is to be expected, but still challenging. You know how hard it is for me to have to sit still? My mind is saying Go! Go! Go! but my body is not quite up for that just yet!
I do have some amazing and very positive news I am so happy to share: my most recent bone marrow biopsy showed that I am 100% donor cells, which is incredible. Even better, the core binding gene, one of the main reasons I needed the stem cell transplant, was not detected in my bone marrow. This is such encouraging news and gives me so much hope!
I’m continuing to have labs done at the University of Minnesota once to twice a week, and I’ll also continue with bone marrow biopsies so my team can closely monitor my progress.
I’m truly hoping that 2026 is going to be an amazing year for not only me and my family, but for all of you as well. 💛
Please keep sending the prayers and positive vibes my way! they mean more than you know!
