Well, your prayers and thoughts and vibes are working! I’m super happy to report that because my blood counts have been stable, I was discharged from the U of MN on Sunday and have begun my recovery from home. To say that it feels amazing to be back with the girls, our animals, and able to sleep in my own bed again is a massive understatement!
Over the next two months I will go to the U of MN clinic three times a week to get labs done to see how my body is responding to the new cells. I am still in semi-isolation, which means I can’t be around anyone who is sick or be out and about at restaurants, malls and crowded places.
The not being “out and about” hasn’t been too difficult to manage as I have been dealing with some mean side effects since the transplant – weakness, fatigue, and nausea. I’ve had some really tough days, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and as strange as it feels for me to have to lay low and stay put, I know that rest and taking it as easy as possible is the best way to recover and make sure these new healthy cells settle in and rebuild.
I’ll share more when I’m feeling a bit stronger, but I wanted to give a quick update and wish you all the happiest of holidays. I truly can’t put into words how grateful I am for each of you, and how much it means to know I have you in my corner!
