The Wheaton Family
We are now 5 months in with Chases treatments and he is doing better than we could have hoped for. We are so proud of his bravery through this whole process. The doctors are very happy with his treatment progression and some are even shocked that he still has his hair! They have said it’s the longest they’ve seen someone keep their hair and we are thankful for those little wins.
Last month there was a minor set back when we found out his body was resisting one of the infusion medications but it was quickly resolved due to the excellent care he has at Levine’s. They replaced that infusion with a long series of inter-muscular shots, that we were all worried about at first. Thankfully he has proven us wrong and despite strongly disliking shots he is taking them like a champ. He does better and better each time he gets them, which is sometimes 3 times a week! This set his timeline back a bit so it looks like he won’t be back at school until the Spring but we are thankful that the Homebound school program is going really well.
Chase was able to enjoy trick or treating on Halloween and even took his bag of candy into the clinic so he could share with each and every nurse. He is so sweet and considerate of others, even while going through the unimaginable himself.
Thank you all for following his progress on here and on social media. The love and support for the whole family has been amazing.
