Hello family and friends,

Thank you so much for your support of Kim and her family during this time.  Your generosity is humbling!

Kim is working on the funeral arrangements as she is able, so as soon as we have information, we will post it.  It takes some coordination around Easter, Christian's graduation from South High School in May, and other pressing matters.

Kim and her husband were unable to work for 2 years due to Paul's illness, which has put an incredible amount of financial strain on their family.  Kim and Carly have been fixing things around the house this past week in order to save money as well.  I have asked Kim to provide a list of things that they need help with around the house, so as soon I have it, I will add a new need to their support page.

In the meantime, we will continue to raise funds for Kim and her family.  Kim will eventually be looking for work, but since Christian is graduating from high school in May, he will no longer have a place to go during the day, which means that Kim will likely have to find a job that she can do from home.

Families with special needs children that transition into adulthood are required to put forth an immense amount of time and diligence in finding support for their needs.  Forsyth county has only ONE day program available (Creative Enterprises) that accommodates 125 adults.  The remaining 10,000 special needs adults in Forsyth county currently live full-time with their aging parents at home.  There is no housing for special needs adults in Forsyth county.  Keystone Village is currently building housing for this population, but the capacity is only for 90 special needs adults.  Christian's options are, like many others, extremely limited.  He will be provided a limited amount of funding through Medicaid that can be appropriated for hiring life and job skill coaches, transportation and community-based activities often offered by Forsyth County Parks and Rec Adaptive programs.  Hiring a home health care aide will likely be required for Kim to work and have some respite when needed as well.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support.  Your generosity and God's mercy allow Kim and her family to find peace in this prolonged season of suffering.  Let us help her carry the cross!
