This week has been fairly good for Asa, just a few bouts with leg pain, but he's been tough. Today we headed to the hospital for a routine lumbar puncture and dr. visit with a follow-up neurology appointment regarding the increased cranial pressure (IIH) discovered during his September hospital stay.
Well...after running labs, Asa's blood count came back low again (this time low hemoglobin) so he could not get the LP. This also puts his chemo treatment on hold another week and today's neurology appointment was cancelled due to him needing a 3 hour long transfusion.
He's taking a nap now while we wait for his transfusion to finish. We asked his doctor how his overall treatment was going and we were told, it is "within the acceptable and unsurprising parameters." The pause in his treatment, while it could be seen as a bad thing, is actually quite normal and a sign that the treatment is doing what it is designed to do. We keep praying his little body responds the way it needs to and that God would be magnified through Asa's cancer journey.
Thank you all for your continued prayers, words of encouragement, meals, and the countless ways you've shown us love. We are forever grateful!
