We are interrupting our 10-year anniversary trip at The Spa at Woodloch to share really encouraging and praiseworthy news from Andrew’s CT scan from Monday.
The report summed up quickly:
The report summed up quickly:
- There are no new tumors present in his chest, abdomen, or pelvis.
- The pancreas tumor was measured slightly (16%) bigger than it did in August, but this was characterized by the radiology report as stable.
- All 4 liver tumors decreased in size and by as much as 80%.
Andrew’s oncologist called this morning to debrief on the tumor board meeting and his thoughts…
- The pancreas tumor was apparently always small within the context of metastatic disease. Now it’s very, very small, and we are reaching the limits of detection for changes. This is why it “increased” but was characterized as stable. It’s possible Andrew was just positioned differently in the scan. It’s also reasonable to assume that some of the tumor is made up of dead cells vs active cancer cells.
- Excellent news on the liver. In June, a CT showed a lot of liver involvement, but many have dissolved. He expects even more progress, and some of the existing four could be undetectable on the next scan.
- Tumor board was pleased, and this was in line with the great results they expected after last time. Medical oncologists all agree on continuing chemo probably for another two months then stopping because we’re close to maxing out the response. That will set Andrew up very well for a low disease burden during maintenance phase.
We are thanking God and celebrating this amazing news!
