I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful long weekend as we honored MLK Day.
Abigail had a virtual GI appointment today, and it went really well. She currently weighs 29.6 pounds, which means she has gained four pounds since the last time GI saw her about two months ago. About a month before her surgery, they would like me to add an additional acid reflux medication to help ensure she heals without any complications. They also want me to begin introducing small volumes of dairy to see if she may have outgrown her dairy allergy. Her next GI follow-up won’t be until early this summer.
The last three months have been incredibly busy for our family, filled with appointments for Abigail and getting everything lined up for her upcoming surgery in April. Today, I also had a meeting with our Humana case manager to go over insurance details and to see if she has received final confirmation from her supervisor that all of Abigail’s care in Boston will be covered. She told me she expects to have a concrete answer by the end of this coming week, which we are anxiously waiting for.
Speaking of Boston, Abigail and I will be heading there on March 2 for a pre-op appointment with her ENT surgeon. This visit wasn’t originally planned, but given how complex her airway is, he wants to see her in person before surgery. Then, on March 4, Abigail will receive her Botox injections in Boston. These will be done in the operating room under general anesthesia. If everything goes smoothly, I’m hoping to fly back home by the end of that week. Three weeks later, our whole family will head back to Boston for her big airway surgery.
I would appreciate prayers for rest, as I haven’t been sleeping well the past few nights. I want to thank you all for your continued prayers, love, and support. We feel them more than you know.
