Today is April 26, 2026, and Damon is 5 months old today. So many things have been happening in his little world.

Damon and the family have enjoyed being at home and settling into a new rhythm together. He had been progressing well, continuing to gain strength, weight and making progress as babies should.

At Damon’s first clinic visit, they increased his calorie intake and gave the okay to begin trying small amounts of solid foods like rice cereal, bananas, and even peanut butter—which has turned out to be a hit!

Through some nursing challenges, Damon was assigned a temporary nurse who felt a few things needed to be checked. After consulting with the IROC team, they asked for Damon to come in for bloodwork, even though he appeared to be doing well. He was released and sent home, but the following day they received a call asking them to bring him back for admission because of a positive culture result. That was April 7, 2026.

What we know now is that there was an infection in the central line, but it had not entered his bloodstream. It was caught early, and we are so thankful for that. He has needed antibiotics for 7–10 days, and if all continues to go well, he should be able to return home on the 27th or 28th.

While in the hospital, Mom noticed a fray in his CVL line, and they were able to repair it there without needing to replace it.

Damon has also gotten to enjoy applesauce, which he absolutely loves. He also has gone on some walks and seen some old friends from previous stay. They are all still amazed at how well he is doing.

Meanwhile, Danika misses Mom, Dad, and Damon very much and cannot wait for everyone to be back home together.

This likely will not be the last unexpected hospital stay, but overall we are incredibly grateful this issue was found before he became sick. In the meantime, Damon continues to gain weight, grow stronger, and has now started rolling over. He enjoys walks and being outside, so while the nurses and doctors are wonderful, they do occasionally interrupt his plans.

Please continue to keep Damon and the whole family in your thoughts & prayers. We are so thankful for the love and support surrounding them.
