I’ve been trying to find the words for this update, and the truth is, there really aren’t enough words.

Just Saturday , I was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, had brain surgery and my whole life flipped upside down, the cancer has spread to my brain, lungs, liver, kidney, and bones . Saying that out loud still feels surreal. I’ve been scared in a way I never knew was possible, and there have been moments where I haven’t known how to put my feelings into words.

But what I do know is this: I have never felt more loved.

To every person who helped start this page, donated, bought a shirt, sent a message, held my hand, prayed for me, brought a meal, checked in, or simply reminded me that I’m not alone—thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I truly didn’t realize how incredibly blessed and fortunate I was to have such amazing people in my life. The kindness, generosity, and love that have surrounded my family and me have lifted me up on days when I didn’t think I could stand. You have become an army around me, and I feel your strength every single day.

This battle is not without fear. I am terrified. There is no way to sugarcoat that. But alongside the fear is something else: determination.

I worked so hard to become a mother. My children are my entire world, and I cannot imagine a life where I am not there to watch them grow, cheer them on, hold them close, and love them through every stage of their lives. They are the reason I will fight with everything I have. I will do anything in this world for my babies, and I am holding tightly to the dream of giving them a lifetime with their mama.

I don’t know exactly what the road ahead looks like. I know it will be hard. But because of all of you, I also know that I will not walk it alone.

Thank you for carrying us, encouraging us, and believing in me when I’ve struggled to believe in myself. Your love has given me strength I didn’t know I had.

Please continue to pray, send positive thoughts, and keep my family close to your hearts. We feel every bit of it.

With all my love and gratitude,
 Ashlen

You are so loved. Thank you for all that you do as a NICU RN. You are an amazing friend, wife, and Mom. You light up the room when you enter it. You make me smile. You are pure joy. Thank you for all of the love that you bring into this world. Crystal Niapas
