I sit here, my bags packed beside me, trying to complete all the surgery prep instructions while getting what rest I can. 

Today has been doing a puzzle next to a flickering candle while also keeping to a clear liquid diet. Today has been filling out my advance directive and then watching a Netflix show. Such a weird mix of peace and gravity. 

My phone has reminded me several times an hour how rich I am in people who love me. I've listened to the songs you've sent, read the texts, taped the cards to my pantry door, and opened my door to friends walking my dog, delivering a meal, taking my children for the week.

Surgery starts at 7:30am tomorrow, by God's grace. Stephen and I check in at 5:30am and the wait begins. We expect the operation to be 4 or 5 hours, my hospital stay 3 days, and recover 2 weeks at home. Thank you for walking alongside us. We do not feel alone.
