Andrew R. T. Long (Big Country) passed away on March 13th, 2026, at age 19. Andrew was born in Rochester NY, the middle of three children to his parents. After graduating from Irondequoit High School in 2025, he continued his education and athletic career at Hudson Valley Community College. He majored in Electrical Engineering Technology, played football, and was a thrower in track and field. He attended HVCC in hopes to work his way towards getting scholarships to a division one college to continue his football and academic career.
His athletics were his pride and joy. He loved to lift weights with his friends and teammates, watch film and throw shot put, weight, and discus for track and field. Above all, he loved to get out on the field and play football. In high school he earned his spot on the roster for the 2024 Eddie Meath All Star Game hosted in Rochester NY. He also earned second team All American in his first season playing for HVCC.
He had many diverse interests. He enjoyed hunting, gaming, watching anime, eating spicy foods, riding ATV’s and spending time with friends and family.
Andrew was defined by his grit and his gentle demeanor. He fought hard during his football games and was coined as the Swiss Army Knife of the offensive line due to his eagerness on the field and ability to excel at all positions on the line. He was a kind and compassionate young man who loved his family, friends and dogs dearly.
Andrew is survived by his parents Jennifer and Michael Long, his siblings Matthew and Ashleigh Long, his grandparents Mary-Anne and Richard Long, Polly and Tom Roberts, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held at the Paul W Harris funeral home family center, located at 570 King Hwy S, Rochester NY 14617 on Saturday March 28th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM.
