Hollis is truly remarkable. Over the last few days we have made some huge progress with some minor setbacks that hopefully will improve with time. Some big wins have been coming off telemetry, playing and doing artwork, walking, and a good looking CT scan! Our biggest hurdle right now is getting Hollis to eat again. With what she has been through over the last weeks she is struggling with some trauma induced fears of eating. She still has the feeding tube in place and is getting the majority of her nutrition from this. In talking with her she has expressed she does not want the feeding tube to be removed because she doesn’t want to have it put back in (very traumatic experiences having it placed multiple times). This is all very valid and understandable, but breaks my heart my girl doesn’t want to eat! Please pray specifically she starts eating again and we can get this darn feeding tube out!
We are hoping to go outside either tomorrow or by the weekend! It’s been almost 3 weeks since she’s been outside. This will be so good for her to get some fresh air. Her incredible nurse did a spa day with her today and we finally got her hair washed and braided, had a foot massage, nails done and some sweet temporary tattoos. It brings so much joy to see a smile on her sweet face. The progress she has made in one week is mind blowing. She’s getting stronger every day and working hard with PT to get up and moving. She’s so motivated and doing really hard things and I am just so insanely proud of her.
I have been cleared to drive so I can now drive myself to and from the hospital. Jeff wins dad of the year as he continues to stay every night in the hospital with Hollis so I can get some rest to continue my recovery. Insanely enough, my liver numbers on yesterday’s blood work are almost completely back to normal and it’s not even two weeks post op. Pretty wild what our bodies are capable of!
I ask that you all continue to pray for our girl. There have been a few nurses and providers who have heard about Hollis outside of the hospital and have told us how many people are praying for her. We’ve been watching a miracle happen and believe it will continue. Thank you thank you thank you for everyone’s continued support along this journey. We love and appreciate you all!
