Juliette passed her birth weight! Beckett is close to hitting his and will be starting feeds soon, so that will help with weight gain. They’re reducing some of the testing that they run on both babies because they’ve been doing pretty well.
They’re both starting to open their eyes! Babies’ eyes are fused together with their eyelashes until 26/27 weeks and the twins have been trying so hard to open them for the last week or so (which is why their little eyebrows have been raised in most pictures).

As their medical teams try to lower their vent settings, the babies will occasionally forget to breathe and have a small spell, but snap out of it pretty quickly. Unfortunately, lowering the vent settings also causes their monitors to go off very regularly as they stray from the narrow window that they should be in. They’re usually able to bring themselves back to that window by themselves or with a minor vent adjustment, but all of the beeping is hard on our nerves. Beckett had a tougher time today than Juliette.
I got to finally hold Juliette! Beckett needs to have a more stable day before he can handle the transfer from his bed to me, but it shouldn’t be long. It takes 3 people and a lot of set up to move the baby from their bassinet to my chest, but everyone was so kind and patient and didn’t make us feel like a burden even though it’s a lot of work. Since it’s such a process, holds last at least one hour. It was very emotional and worth the effort. Babies typically do really well on their parents, but struggle going back to their bassinet. Lettie did a great job all around and seemed really happy to be snuggled up with Mom. It helps that I’m a furnace and kept her warmer than her temperature-controlled bed.
