Banks Update
The Hendrick Family
We got home with Banks last Thursday and are settling in as a family of 5! He is such a sugar and we are all so in love! Banks was transferred to CHOA on Thursday morning for an MRI of his brain/neck. One of the biggest concerns with achondroplasia is called cervicomedullary compression (CMC) which can cause serious complications. Banks needed a MRI quickly to assess whether he has CMC or not, and praise be to God, it appears he does not! As far as we know now, Banks won’t need surgical intervention for the time being. We will be meeting with the genetics doctor & achondroplasia expert on Monday, June 24th and will learn more about if there are upcoming tests necessary for him. We are expecting to have a sleep study soon to monitor for sleep apnea, which is another concern associated with achondroplasia.
We will keep you all posted as we learn more and know what next steps we will be taking. Thank you all for all of your prayers, meals, rides to and from camp, and the overly generous sharing of your resources! The load of all of this has felt so much lighter because of this amazing community and we feel beyond blessed to be loved so deeply by all of you! God is so good and our whole family is the luckiest to have all of you in our corner. Words do not do it justice to share how grateful we are. We love you all so much!
