This morning we received the amazing news that Sky is in remission!
We are so thankful for this answer to prayer. Thankful for our family and friends who have supported through prayer, love, and support in this journey so far.
Whilst we are so happy for this result we know that this is not the end of this journey. Remission does not mean that Sky is "cured". It is however, the biggest step on this journey towards that goal. It means that no leukemia cells are detected in the bone marrow sample that was taken. It doesn't mean that their isn't a cell or multiple cells still hiding somewhere else in her bone marrow. All it takes for a relapse is for one leukemia cell to survive and reproduce (some can even survive dormant for several years before they start to reproduce which is why relapse can happen several years after remission). This is why Sky will continue to go through intensive chemo treatment rounds for the next 6 months and then a further 2 years of occasional chemo to try to make sure that every cell is caught.
The remission result does mean that we continue on a pathway known to provide a long term cure in the vast majority of cases, and no stem cell transplants are required.
Whatever the future holds for Sky, we pray for the most important thing, which is that she will one day grow to love Jesus as Lord and King, and one day sing the words:

Death was once my great opponent
Fear once had a hold on me
But the Son who died to save us
Rose that we would be free indeed!
Yes, He rose that we would be free indeed!
Fear once had a hold on me
But the Son who died to save us
Rose that we would be free indeed!
Yes, He rose that we would be free indeed!
Free from every plan of darkness
Free to live and free to love
Death is dead and Christ is risen!
It was finished upon that cross
Free to live and free to love
Death is dead and Christ is risen!
It was finished upon that cross
Onward to eternal glory
To my Saviour and my God
I rejoice in Jesus' victory
It was finished upon that cross
It was finished upon that cross
It was finished upon that cross
To my Saviour and my God
I rejoice in Jesus' victory
It was finished upon that cross
It was finished upon that cross
It was finished upon that cross
