Sky had a good nights sleep last night pretty much sleeping straight through. She has been very upset with mood swings during the day but has eaten well. Her only time she was happy was when her brothers came to visit and watched some Bluey together. It was nice to have our pastor, Jordan visit us in the hospital and both Nathan and Elijah ensured that they both soundly beat him in some games of air hockey.
When Sky has her MRD Test on day 29 this is when her marrow samples will be looked at through a microscope to see if any Leukemia cells can be detected. Before then we can get an idea of how she is doing based on her blood samples. The “blasts” percentage is the indicator that we want to come down and to have a chance of achieving MRD negative in the bone marrow test on day 29 we need her blasts from her blood samples to be at zero beforehand (most likely at least a few days before). We are on day 16 today and her blasts are still at 30% (originally at 72% on initial admission). This count is coming down slower than the doctors would like. She still has time for the number to get to zero and we have bloods taken and an update each day which I will post here. Due to her positive genetic marker her prognosis is still good even if she is not MRD negative on day 29.
We’re hoping that Sky will have a better day tomorrow but for now it’s off to sleep for us. We’ll send another update tomorrow. Thank you again to everyone for your prayers, love, and support.
