The whole “stay at home and wait until surgery day” plan sure did not pan out. We ended up back in the ER last night and shortly after arriving, John deteriorated even further, prompting a very rapid and TV-like transfer to a trauma room to be placed on the ventilator via nasal cannula. His airways were mostly occluded again and it required a lot of pressure to get air through them. As such- his surgery was expedited to today.
He got his stents placed this afternoon and is back in his room resting- and on room air! It will be our full time job to keep his stents patent and open so that they can stay in for the full 2 weeks.
We don’t have an exact discharge date yet- but it’s possible he can go home as early as tomorrow!
We’re hopeful this helps propel him in the right direction. Thank you for the continued thoughts and prayers. 🩵
