The Gurbal Fam
After a hard day for John, it was decided that it’s best to move forward with the more invasive procedure- the one we were hoping to avoid. They reviewed his CT scan again and his nasal opening is only 4mm- the criteria for diagnosis is an opening less than 11mm.. it is no longer a matter of IF he’s having this procedure, but when.
Given the lack of progress and his ongoing distress, they’ve decided to operate tomorrow morning. He will require general anesthesia again and our biggest worry at this point is whether or not he will be able to immediately come off the ventilator following the procedure. We will just have to wait and see how he does. It’s a terrifying thought to have such an invasive procedure at only 2.5 weeks old but we all feel this is what John needs to best support him moving forward.
Please keep our tiny boy in your thoughts tomorrow.
