Happy due date to John!

It’s crazy to think about all he’s been through in the time before he was even supposed to be born. He has been an absolute trooper. He is generally very happy as long as he has a full tummy (like his dad..).

Our top priority remains trying to wean his oxygen. As of this morning- we’ve been able to downgrade his machine and he is back on a normal high flow nasal cannula! He has spent days on a BIPAP/baby vent so this is a huge step in the right direction.

We’re hoping his oxygen improves enough so that his nasal stents can stay in the full 2 weeks to prevent rebound swelling. We’ve had some issues with secretions but the medication they started has helped a lot already.

His chest x ray looks much improved- the collapsed area is reinflated and there’s no new areas on concern.

He has also GAINED WEIGHT! He was born at 5lb14oz but has dropped below that twice, and began losing weight a third time. He’s getting high calorie fortified breastmilk which has been great for him and his has hit a record high of 6 lb 8 oz!! 🎉

We have multiple tiny victories to be thankful for this morning and it seems we may be through the worst of it. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 it is very easy to get frustrated and exhausted from this process, but we are so thankful everything is moving in the right direction. What a testimony he will have one day. We’re so proud to be his parents.

Thank you for all the prayers and support. Parenting two kids with one in the hospital is definitely a challenge, but we are so fortunate so have so many family and friends eager to help out.

God is so good.
