Hi Everyone,
Well it sure is obvious that I've returned to work, because I have not found the time to write an update in weeks! We are all definitely adjusting to our new normal. Here are a few updates since my last post:
WORK
I went back to work as an HR Business Partner at Adobe on January 6th. I was so excited to gain this part of my life back. But after the first couple weeks things got BUSY! But it's been great to head into the office a couple days a week and exercise that part of my brain. Adobe has also been awesome at welcoming me back and giving me the flexibility I need.
TREATMENT
Flexibility is super important because I am still in my third phase of treatment, referred to as adjuvant therapy. This includes my Keytruda immunotherapy infusions ever three weeks (I am at one as I type) and a chemo pill called Xeloda. So far I have not experienced any side effects except some sleepiness after immunotherapy infusions. They chemo pill does affect my blood cell and platelet counts, but those bounce back during my off weeks and have not been a concern. I am also in physical therapy which has been so helpful. As of last week I achieved normal range of motion! Now we are shifting to getting my strength back in my arms and shoulders.
I did develop a seroma in my underarm a few weeks that was causing me a lot of pain and swelling. I decided to have it aspirated and that was a godsend!
THE KIDS
As you know, we are heading into baseball season and for the first year ever it now involves ALL of our boys! Yes, you read that right...even Luka is playing little league this year. He is already loving it and feels as cool as his big brothers. Dante is crushing the baseball and fielding like a pro. And Roman is steadily breaking in his new catcher's gear he got for Christmas.
CHRIS
Chris is doing awesome at work and recently closed the biggest deal of his career. This comes at the same time as his own NCAA baseball season starts. On top of all of that, he is so involved with the boys' little league and volunteers/coaches any chance he can get on the weekdays when he is in town. Seeing him bond with all three boys over baseball is really cool to see.
Overall, things are going well. It's not always easy to manage work, treatment, kids, the house, sports, etc, but it's what I spent the last year fighting for. I'm looking forward to driving my kids to all their activities, continuing to workout, cooking dinners when I can, and allowing for take-out and snack shack dinners when needed.
Thanks again and love you all!
