Good Morning, everyone.
Good News first!!! Kat was downgraded from stage 3 to stage 2B yesterday! (Insert running man GIF). While treatment doesn't change, this definitely makes it a smidge less scary. Keep sending those positive vibes...they're working!
As I write this, Kat is in surgery getting her port in place. She is scheduled to begin chemo the week of 4/21. They still don't have an exact date, but I am going to arbitrarily assign two days to the "kid help" sections that week as a place holder for transport to and from school/sports, and keeping them busy.
As far as meals go, Kat met with a dietician earlier this week and her diet isn't as strict as we thought; BUT, as with all of us, the less sugar/crap the better. If you're in the mood to cook for the family, following an organic Mediterranean diet is the way to go. I will put one Monday each week that can also be a place holder to contact Chris about a good night that week. A nice, home-cooked meal is good for the body and the soul.
The easiest way to help right now is to donate food delivery gift cards. As mentioned in my initial post, you choose the amount and the family can pick what company they use.
Kat is most likely going to be sore and down for the rest of the day today. Please drop her a text and let her know you're thinking of her.
xo,
Jess
