Hannah had a much calmer night last night than the prior, which was good. Today she has drawn that she misses her friends and co-op so Brit has said a few friends may come see her soon! She also drew spaghetti and a cup with a straw, our girl is hungry, thirsty and mad about it! She is receiving vitamins through her central line which is not the most ideal for her long term but in order to start doing TPN feedings through her NG tube she has to be weaned off Epinephrine first, which she is still receiving.
Epinephrine decreases blood flow to the gut by diverting blood to other vital organs , so right now they are slowly trying to wean her off the Epinephrine so that blood flow can return to the gut and she can hopefully tolerate TPN feedings soon. Feedings while having decreased blood flow to the gut can cause problems so we need adequate blood flow to the GI system first. Please pray she is able to handle the weaning and her BP will remain in safe range!

She is still intubated and will remain so until there is enough improvement to where she will not have to work so hard once off of  it. Right now it is allowing her heart and body the rest it needs since essentially the medications are working for her heart but as we wean off medications slowly the prayer is to see her heart kick in with functioning. The team wants her extubated ASAP so prayers for her heart to restore and build strength in order to help itself function properly. The MRI shows that the main area of weakness/damage is her left ventricle, but the entire heart is inflamed . Please specifically pray for her left ventricle to be restored in Jesus Name.
Treatment will continue for the myocarditis through a 7 day course. They have given a timeline of 2 weeks. Within about 2 weeks Hannah will fall into 1 of these 3 categories:

  1. Spontaneous and rapid improvement- the Nurse Practitioner stated in Hannah’s case for her to be in this one “ Miracles do happen.”
  2. Slow improvement which will require months of treatment once home with frequent follow ups to ensure continued healing.
  3. No improvement or decline. This would then lead to how much damage her heart has and if she could potentially handle an implant device like a pacemaker to help her heart function or if she would need a full heart transplant.

Here is our targeted and ongoing specific prayers:
  • toleration of weaning off medications that can lead her to TPN feedings and extubation.
  • Full healing and strength of her left ventricle
  • Her mental and emotional state through this all is imperative so please prayer a covering over her.
  • Brit and Louis for sustained strength, peace and comfort.

Main prayer:
That the statement “Miracles do Happen” would happen in that room for all to see! That her heart and body spontaneously and rapidly improve and heal in Jesus Name!

Leaving Chapel Hill this weekend was one of the hardest things Ive had to do. If I had any choice I wouldn’t have! Tears have not stopped.
Driving home we saw the most vibrant double rainbow and drove for quite some time with it around us! I couldn’t help but thank God for His promise He made to us and that He was sending us a visual for our weary hearts to cling to.

Thank you to all who are continuing to pray, donate, deliver stuff, visit and offer help in various ways. We are so beyond appreciative. Please continue to pray and share her page, we are so thankful!
