This past weekend Hannah started having significant changes in her ability to walk short distances- even a few steps without experiencing chest pain, tachycardia( increased in heart rate) up into the 130s-150s along with neck, jaw and arm pain. After a few days and an ER visit with consultation to the on call Peds Cardiologist it was very apparent that action and attention was not happening like it should be with Hannah. The decision was made to head to Duke Hospital  in hopes for someone to listen to Brit and for a second opinion.

Yesterday morning from the moment that they arrived at Dukes Emergency Department everything has went so smoothly. Hannah was taken back swiftly, triaged and given fluids immediately. Brittany summarized Hannah’s background and explained what has transpired since May. The response we needed was given! They acknowledged, heard and validated her concerns and thoughts.
Peds Cardiology came to see them, admitted Hannah to Peds Cardiac floor and stated he was going to review all of Hannah’s records and scans from UNC then go from there. He discussed a few possibilities of what could be happening with her symptoms now but said he needed to start at the beginning first to make sure diagnoses and treatments were correct and go step by step. He will be getting his own MRI done on Hannah today 11/5/25.
Brittany said this has been such a smooth process so far. She had not had to continuously advocate or fight to have someone listen to her once so far which has been such a blessing because she is tired and emotionally/mentally spent.
Pray for divine intervention for the healthcare team on Hannah’s case. Duke has given us hope so far.
It’s a scary world these days, especially in healthcare… we are very grateful for UNC saving Hannah’s life but we are so thankful for her to be at Duke right now for many reasons.

Please keep Hannah, Brit and Brit’s sister Helena in your prayers as they are at Duke. Timeframe of the length of stay is unknown right now.
Thank you all! 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹
