Today Norah and Greyson both had check-ups at the hospital with labs and viral panels. Both appointments went well and we are now home for next couple of days.
There are some changes to the prep for Greyson. After considering all of the results of Greyson’s tests last week, alongside his history with lung and kidney damage, his doctors have decided against doing total body radiation as planned and instead, plan to do an ‘intense chemo regimen’ leading up to transplant (he was already scheduled to receive chemo in addition to radiation so it’s not that different). Greyson and I will drive back to Atlanta on Sunday and then head to the hospital early Monday morning for his scheduled Central Line placement surgery. He will be admitted to the BMT unit from there and will begin chemo the next day.
Norah will be heading to Atlanta the following week for her Bone Marrow Aspiration. She currently has a cough and congestion left over from a cold she had. She has started antibiotics to help kick it but if she still has any cough or congestion when she comes up to donate she will not be allowed to see Greyson. This will be her only chance to see him while he is inpatient as she is too young to visit except for the day before and day of transplant since she is the donor. Please pray that she’ll recover and can go visit him during this very special time. 💚 🧡🎗️
