Harley Update – Day 9 ❤️
Today was another quiet day medically. We didn't have any scheduled doctor visits, but so many of Harley's doctors still stopped by just to chat because they genuinely care about her. She wasn't even on their list to see today—they just wanted to check in and spend a few minutes with her. That says so much about the people taking care of our girl.
Her electrophysiologist, Dr. Patrick, is a little on the quirky side (think Sheldon Cooper 😄), but Tyler told Harley he would dance for her, and a promise is a promise! Watching him keep his word brought so many smiles.
Her heart failure doctor also stopped by and told Harley she's buying her a turtle pool float for when she's finally back home enjoying summer. It's little moments like these that make long hospital days a little brighter.
Harley's godfather came to visit today. The love he has for her is so obvious, and it meant so much to both of us.
Aleena, Harley's best friend, came for another visit today, and Grandma Margie absolutely spoiled us with homemade food. She brought marry me chicken gnocchi soup and lasagna, and I honestly don't think we've ever had hospital meals that good! Thank you so much—we appreciated every bite.
One of the harder parts of this journey has been seeing the toll it's taken on Harley's hair. It's become very fragile, breaking and falling out. Aleena's big sister, Adrieana, came today and gave Harley a haircut to help her feel a little more like herself. She even contacted Fred to come cut our grass at home. These acts of kindness may seem small, but they lift such a huge weight off our shoulders.
Harley and I spent part of today making bracelets, playing games, and just enjoying time together.
Tonight we went to karaoke, and they said it was their biggest turnout yet. They think Harley's snow cone machine helped bring everyone together, which made us smile. Then everyone sang Defying Gravity to Harley, and I almost cried. That song couldn't be more fitting because Harley truly has no limits. She continues to inspire everyone around her every single day.
We also decorated her hospital window with photos of our family and friends. It's now filled with the faces of the people cheering her on from near and far.
When Harley woke up this morning, her nurse had left her the sweetest little Post-it note with well wishes. Those thoughtful gestures never go unnoticed and remind us just how loved she is.
Tomorrow is looking very promising. We are hopeful it will be the day Harley is officially listed for her heart transplant. As soon as we know anything, I promise I'll update everyone.
Thank you all for continuing to pray, encourage, support, and walk beside us through every step of this journey. We feel your love every single day. ❤️
