Jonah finished radiation treatment #7 today โ and now we turn our attention to something much more fun: HOMECOMING WEEKEND.
Tonight, heโll be at the DHS homecoming football game with his friends, and tomorrow is the full deal โ pictures, dinner, the dance and an after-party. And right now, Jonah is still feeling good. Heโs going to school every day, doing radiation after school, and living his life. We are soaking up every single bit of that.
His doctors have told us side effects often begin around the second week of radiation, so weโre praying hard that they stay minimal. For now, we keep moving forward with positivity, hope and a whole lot of gratitude.
We are also still waiting on the detailed genetic sequencing of Jonahโs tumors. Those results will be incredibly important in helping Randi and Adam determine what comes next after radiation and which treatments may make the most sense for Jonahโs specific cancer.
Next week, Stefanie and I will join Randi and Adam at the Ianโs Friends Foundation WhatIFF Symposium, where leading doctors and researchers from around the country and world will gather to discuss the present and future of pediatric brain tumor research and treatment. Cheryl and Phil Yagoda have incredibly given the Blicks an opportunity to share Jonahโs case with this extraordinary group. We are forever grateful for the way they have welcomed us into their circle โ and for every opportunity to shine more light on this rare cancer in the hope of better answers for Jonah and for every child who comes after him.
REMINDER FOR TONIGHT: From 5โ7 PM at The Barn in Dunwoody, Tyler Frist will be selling #BlickyStrong bracelets, and Alison will have hats available as well, with proceeds supporting brain cancer research. Our dream is to see more than 1,000 people in our community wearing the same bracelet โ a visible reminder to the Blicks that they are surrounded by an army of love and support.
Family, friends and this entire community continue to show up in ways that are incredible to witness. Please keep praying. Keep lighting candles and spreading light. Keep doing acts of kindness in Jonahโs honor.
And as we head toward Yom Kippur, please say an extra prayer for Jonah, Randi, Adam, Logan and Micah. May they be inscribed in the Book of Life for many, many years to come.
Shabbat Shalom to those who celebrate. ๐
7 down. 23 to go. One day at a time.
And a Gator victory tomorrow wouldnโt hurt either. ๐๐
