Evan, Della, and I made the trip over to Emory today to get Evan’s staples removed (32 of them) and talk to the doctors and nutritionist. They were very very pleased with how well Evan is doing. We thank God for the answered prayers. They said he can begin doing his IV nutrition every other day and come off of it in about 2 weeks.

The pathology report indicated that the tumor they removed was mostly low grade, slow growing cells (about 95%) but there were also pockets of high grade, more aggressive growing cells. At this point, they have done all they could do to remove as much cancer as they could, and now we “wait and see”. He will have a scan in 4 months and in the meantime they recommended we find an oncologist here.

Evan is truly improving day by day- walking more, eating more, gaining weight and strength. He desires to go back to church and worship with God’s people as soon as he can. We love you all dearly and have experienced God’s love tangibly through so many of you. God is using your love and prayers.

1 Peter 5:10- And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Jaimie, I praise God and give him all the glory for the remarkable progress Evan has made. I thank him for hearing all of our prayers for Evan. I pray daily for Evan and for you as you walk this path with him, caring for him in all of the ways you do. Caring for Ern was the sweetest time in our marriage, doing for him all the things that needed to be done that he couldn’t do on his own. I know you must feel the same as you lovingly care for your dear husband. I pray for you both wisdom, strength, patience and love as you go through this journey. I pray for your children too as they do their part in being helpful. Much love to you all, Dottie

Dear Evan, Jaimie and family, It is so wonderful to see Evan back at church, with that big, beautiful smile on his face. My church in Springfield, IL, Cherry Hills, continues to ask me for “updates on Pastor Gear” as they have been lifting Evan up in prayer ever since we first knew of his cancer. Several different prayer teams, all of the Pastors, our Sunday School class “Kingdom Builders” and our group of friends are also praying for your family. The love and support of these mighty prayer warriors is powerful - I know that first hand. 💜 I am so thankful Evan is on the path toward renewed health. The picture here of your beautiful family makes me smile. I will continue to be in prayer for you all, for strength, comfort, peace, that you see the joy along the way, and for complete restoration of health. With Love, Tami
