Teddie’s Journey To A Cure

Dear Family and Friends,

We wanted to take a moment to share an update and thank you for your continued love, support, and encouragement. Your presence—near and far—means the world to us, and we don’t take it for granted.

Where We Are Now:
We received some incredible news last week: Teddie’s bone marrow showed no measurable disease. Her numbers have been borderline since December, but for the first time, they’re officially at zero. It’s a huge milestone, and we’re incredibly grateful.

That said, this doesn’t change the next steps. Because of the genetic profile of Teddie’s leukemia, the risk of relapse remains high. Given how difficult it was to treat the first time, a bone marrow transplant is still considered her best chance for a cure.

Fertility Preservation:
As part of the next phase of treatment, we’ve been consulting with specialists in St. Louis about Teddie’s future fertility. The treatment she will undergo is likely to affect her ability to have biological children. After much consideration, we’ve decided to move forward with fertility preservation.

This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make. We don’t yet know if insurance will cover it, and it comes with significant cost—but in our hearts, we want to give Teddie every possible option for her future. If one day she wants to have biological children, we want her to have that choice.

What’s Next:
Teddie will continue with maintenance therapy until her transplant. Over the next few weeks, she’ll undergo a number of pre-transplant evaluations, including checks on her ears, heart, kidneys, and a CT scan. We also have an upcoming meeting with the radiology team at UAMS. As of now, she’s scheduled to receive radiation twice a day for four days as part of her transplant preparation.

We’re thankful to share that we’ve received final confirmation from her donor, and everything is moving forward on that front.

How We’re Feeling:
To be completely honest—this is all really difficult. Things are happening fast. It’s hard to wrap our minds around making our vibrant, joyful 3-year-old sick in order to help her heal. But we also understand the reality: without this transplant, the likelihood of relapse is far too high.

How You Can Support Us:
Please continue to keep Teddie in your prayers.
 • Pray for protection over her body as she begins this next phase.
 • Pray for wisdom and clarity for our family and her medical team as we navigate each step.
 • Pray for her donor—for their health, safety, and the incredible gift they’re giving.
 • And above all, pray for healing and a complete cure.

We feel your love every day, and it truly sustains us.

With Love,
The Sayan Family
