God is still Good. Today the doctors began shifting their focus from stabilizing Susannah towards better understanding her brain injury.
The doctors believe she has passed the peak of brain swelling and pressure. She has not needed medication to reduce brain swelling in the last day, and they are beginning to reduce her sedation medication levels.
The next big step is an MRI, scheduled for tomorrow. This should help the doctors better understand the extent of her brain injury. It won’t give us all the answers, but it should provide a clearer picture of what we are dealing with.
She has had a fever for the last two days, so the team is checking for an infection.
On a more personal note, her natural color has returned, and everyone has said that she is looking more like herself. Her nurse Hayley has been cleaning her up and brushing / braiding her hair.
Please keep praying for her immediate needs and ultimate goal of complete restoration of her body and mind. You can be praying for: neural pathways, brain cells, blood vessels to be restored, great results from the MRI, no permanent brain damage, all of the muscle responses to stimuli, complete healing of her heart, and healing of the other minor bumps and bruises from the car crash. Today honestly felt like we were trying to climb K2. But God has made that too, so he can move it.
