Update

Lindsay posted an update last on caringbridge about my transplant, hospitalization, and recovery. After that brutal month, I had a five day run of another type of chemo to kill any cancer cells that sneak through while we are still suppressing my brother’s brand new immune system in my body. I was very sick vomiting the first day but better after resuming the anti-nausea meds every 4 hours. I have five more rounds of this chemo to go, once every month. I caught a fourth cold. To be expected. We just can’t seem to stay well this cold/flu season! I hope everyone reading is staying warm and healthy! I had a widespread skin rash that the doctors are confident was Graft Versus Host Disease. It was extremely itchy, but they successfully treated me with oral and topical steroids. I am weaning off the steroids now. I’m now Day 65 after transplant! 100 days will be a big milestone so it’s great to be over halfway there. I am so thankful for all the prayers, love, and support you all continue to give us. It’s the reason we are making it through this. Special thank you as always to both our families and our nanny Angela for providing transportation for me to and from clinic for my treatments and all the help with the kids. We are blessed despite this cross to bear.

Dear,Stephanie,I’m glad to hear the itching is gone and you’re feeling relatively better and the nausea has gotten better too. I haven’t been on in awhile because I lost where to go after Caring Bridge and just found it today! I’m hoping Ryan’s stem cells are working! Our 36 year old daughter Andrea is getting married in April so I have been to 1 Bridal Shower, have my dress and going to another Bridal Couple’s Shower Next weekend in St. Louis, where she lives and where she will be married. She’s doing most of the Wedding herself, since I live 2 1/2 hours away. It’s fast approaching and I’m excited. She has a brother, not married, but she’s my only daughter. I think and pray for You and Your Family often and Will Continue. Stay Strong Stephanie and Your Prayer Warriors will also! Love always, your Mom’s Friend,Anne Forbis
