Please read the update below from Stephanie (5/1/24):
Calling all prayers! Friends have asked for updates lately and I’m so sorry I haven’t had time to give one. I’ve had several infections over the past few months which have lengthened my chemo schedule. It has truly been one thing after another. A few weeks ago, I was told I only had two more chemo cycles left due to new research. Then my bone marrow biopsy results came in two weeks ago and showed that I still have some cancer left even after the stem cell tranplant and all the chemo. In a perfect world, it would have shown zero cancer at this point. So they have made a new plan for me. They have taken me off the immunosuppressant drug that has been keeping my brother’s donor immune system from attacking my whole body (graft versus host disease). Because I have had what they deem as minimal GVHD so far (skin rashes treated with steroids), they are able to take me off the immunosuppressant cold turkey and let Ryan’s immune system go full force to try to kill the remaining cancer. I will also be receiving three more rounds of chemo, with the round coming up next week a very strong one. This one will wipe out my counts again and most likely cause me to require transfusions. So any platelet donors out there, please donate if you feel compelled! They will do another bone marrow biopsy in about five weeks so I am calling you all to pray for full remission and complete cure of my leukemia. I am doing my best to trust in God’s plan and have faith that He will allow my three babies to grow up with their momma. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and concern. The love from my friends and family are getting me through this nightmare.
