Stand with Rob in his cancer fight
Dear Friends and Family,
We are deeply humbled and grateful for your generous donations, prayers, and unwavering support during this challenging time. Your love has lifted us in ways we can’t fully express.
Today was a bittersweet milestone—Rob’s son, Tyler, returned early from his mission (with six weeks remaining) to spend precious time with family. His homecoming today was both uplifting and sobering. Watching Tyler share his testimony and mission experiences was a powerful reminder of the strength and faith that carry us forward.
Treatment Update from Brittanie (June 27, 2025)
On Monday, we visited Utah Cancer Specialists in Murray and met Dr. Whisenant, a compassionate and open-minded doctor we instantly connected with. While he didn’t offer a miracle cure, he provided a clearer plan than our previous doctor and shared encouraging insights about alternative treatments, like diet, that have shown promise.
The plan is to start with three months of chemotherapy to shrink Rob’s rectal tumor and prevent potential blockages, which could cause serious complications. We’ll reassess after this period. Treatments will take place in St. George, as Dr. Whisenant confirmed the care will be consistent with what’s offered in Murray, sparing us frequent long drives. We feel optimistic about this approach and are ready to move forward.
Rob will continue his strict vegan diet and supplements, thanks to the incredible help from Brooke and Heidi, who prepared a ton of food for him—your kindness means the world! Friday morning, Rob had a port placed in his chest for chemo, a procedure that took a few hours.
Chemo begins Tuesday. Rob will receive a chemo bag with a pump every two weeks, returning two days later to have it removed. We attended a “Chemo 101” session yesterday, which eased many of our concerns. The team is committed to minimizing side effects like sickness or extreme fatigue, adjusting as needed to keep Rob comfortable. While there will be some unusual side effects, we’re relieved to know he won’t be bedridden for three months.
As we embark on this journey, we’re praying for three specific objectives:
1. Effective Treatment: That the chemotherapy successfully shrinks the tumor and prevents complications, guiding Rob toward healing.
2. Strength Through Side Effects: That Rob remains strong and comfortable, with minimal discomfort from chemo side effects.
3. Emotional Resilience: That our family, especially Rob and Brittnie's family, finds peace and unity to face this challenge with hope and faith.
Thank you again for your outpouring of love, support, and unified 10:15 prayers—they are blessing our entire family. We’ll keep you updated as we navigate this journey together.
With all our gratitude,
Bonham Familly
