Update as of February 13. Shelton had an MRI earlier this week that shows continued progression of the cancer in his brain and across the corpus callosum (highway between your right and left brain) to the left lobe as well as expanded growth on the right side (original tumor site). This means that the Avastin and Chemotherapy bi-weekly infusions are not helping slow down the cancer. We will do another MRI scan in early March to see if anything has changed. There is a chance at that MRI that if we don't see improvement, we may have to make the difficult decision to stop further treatment. At that decision point, we would engage Hospice to help us in the next stage of this journey. He is not in any pain on a regular basis, mostly a few headaches that last less than 30 minutes or body aches, and we are grateful for that. His memory continues to deteriorate and confusion is more present. He is sleeping a large percentage of the day so we try to make the most of his waking hours, without tiring him out. Thank you for continued thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of You & Sending Support

Hi Michele,

Thank you for sharing this update on Shelton. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult this journey has been for you all, and I just want you to know that I’m keeping you in my thoughts and sending strength your way. It’s truly a blessing that he is not in pain, and I admire how you’re making the most of your time together.

I also wanted to mention something that has personally helped me on different journeys—Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work on the brain’s ability to promote healing. His insights on the mind-body connection have been truly fascinating, and I’ve found a lot of comfort in his teachings. Of course, I know everyone’s path is different, but I just wanted to share in case it resonates with you in any way.

If there’s anything I can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Sending love and strength to you and your family.

With warmth,
Ellie
