Quick update on Shelton. He has been having drop attacks since just before Thanksgiving (where his lower body collapses and he falls). He does not lose consciousness during this time. He injured his hip during one and we have had a couple of close calls with almost hitting his head. Based on the new attacks, they did an MRI the Monday before Thanksgiving, which showed additional tumor/cancer footprint growth and was concerning to his nuero oncologist. We traveled 3 hours to Chapel Hill, NC last Tuesday for an interview for a potential trial but unfortunately his tumor is too far progressed to qualify him. He will start Avastin, chemotherapy, and carboplatin next week to try and reduce the swelling on his brain and hopefully slow the cancer growth. This is the last line of defense so we are hopeful it will give him more time and quality of life.
Shelton unfortunately lost his job at the end of November since he has been unable to work and I was also a product of a reduction in force at LPL during a restructuring last week. We are trying to view this as an opportunity to have me fully focused on his well being and to spend this dedicated time with our family.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and extending our gratitude for all the thoughts and prayers you have provided.
