I apologize for the delay in posting an update. Shelton finished his radiation and chemo 6-week treatment in late June. He had an MRI on July 15 and it showed that the glioblastoma cancer had not spread in the brain but had also not shrunk. As the neuro-oncologist said, "it's the first look not the best look". We will have another MRI in September to see how things are looking then as radiation continues to work in your body up to 3 months after your last treatment. Unfortunately his genetic testing and detailed pathology show his tumor type is typically resistant to chemo and there are not a lot of trials he can qualify for. He started high dose chemo therapy this past Thursday (oral), which is the typical standard of care. He will take that 5 days a month and then repeat every month for 6-12 months. His short term memory has been declining and he has extreme fatigue (sleeping a large percentage of the day) but otherwise, every day we have is a gift. We had the opportunity to see friends in Seattle for a few days in July, which was so special and we are grateful for everyone who made time for us. The days wipe him out but right now we are holding on each day and grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers, as they keep us going!
