Update as of March 24 After careful consideration and witnessing Shelton's rapid decline in mobility, stability, and cognition over the past week, we have made the difficult decision to transition to hospice care. This change is aimed at prioritizing his comfort and safety in the final stage of his journey.

Hospice services began today at our home. Shelton experienced two painful falls in the last 24 hours, and his increasing discomfort solidified our decision. With hospice, we’ll have access to essential equipment, such as a hospital bed, bedside commode, and medication to manage his pain, along with medical support to ensure his comfort. These resources will be fully in place by Wednesday.

Our goal is to keep Shelton safe, free from pain, and as comfortable as possible. This also involves additional care visits at home, starting with three times a week and increasing as needed. We feel fortunate to have such compassionate care surrounding us during this time.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of kindness from our community—whether it's meals dropped off, help with household tasks, surprise visits to support Georgia and me, thoughtful texts, care packages, prayers, or warm wishes. Your love and support mean the world to us, and we are reminded how lucky we are to have you by our side.
