The Roundtree Family
Sister surprised us all, PT,OT, her nurses and family. She got her first hospital shower and hair wash and feels nice and refreshed. All of a sudden BOTH LEGS WERE LIFTED UP. My jaw was on the floor. Their jaws were on the floor. They are still tender but this was a huge surprise improvement and big step towards getting ready to come home.
Speaking of coming home- the ramp is built! It is sturdy, it is accessible, and it is long and not too steep. We are so incredibly grateful to every person who showed up to do that. Thank you for allowing the kids to be able to safely stay in their house. I don't even think there is enough Thanks for what all of you have done.
Youngest brother is doing great, and using his good arm to wheel his chair (albeit in a circle at the moment) so he is happy to have that freedom of movement back. Now our job is to figure out how to slow him down.
Older brother had some friends stop by and he brightened up a lot. He is needing a lot of rest for healing at the moment.
Which leads me to my first request: we need to slow down on the visitors at the moment. The charge nurse has said that because he (and the others) need to rest and heal that we are going to have to limit visitors for now. He can have a couple each day; but we are going to have to start people reaching out and schedule a time regarding visiting all the kids. Please reach out for more information.
We are also so grateful yet getting overwhelmed with especially gifts for the Youngest. The charge nurse has asked that we start taking stuff home, and I still barely made a dent. As she put it, "it's a hospital, not a bedroom"
We have plenty here to keep them entertained (although Sister is "bored out of her mind", reasonable when you aren't able to move yourself out of bed yet.)
We kindly ask that if you do have gifts for the kids to wait until after they have been discharged to bring anything else. Food and snack items are fine for now, as are cards which all the kids love to get updates and well wishes from their friends and teachers and classmates. They are currently without their phones (kids these days and their phones!) so if you haven't received a response from them that is why. You may reach out to Me or Tami to get in contact with the kids, I'm sure our nurses would be more than grateful for less foot traffic, and the kids for more phone calls.
Again thank you all for your offers to help and support, as well as donations and gifts, and well wishes. We are so grateful that Tim and Kelsey and Orion had such a wonderful community around them that are making sure the rest of the Kiddos are taken care of.
