Big news around here, the ANC jumped from 160 yesterday to 410 today! Platelets are also trending up so that is fantastic news. We are extremely hopeful we can get out of here after the repeat bone marrow aspiration and biopsy tomorrow afternoon!! No fevers for 48 hours, taking all meds and liquids by mouth, feeling better with rising counts and all negative blood cultures. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Oh and no more insulin! We are more than ready for the green light.
In other news and as evidenced by the photos, Ronan decided he was ready to cut his hair yesterday. It has been falling out a lot the last week or so, leaving masses on his pillow and his clothes and patches on his head. Yesterday, he pulled a big fluff out and said he was ready. He let Bryce go first as he was a little nervous about the clippers, but once he saw it was safe, he was on board. He had some initial sadness afterward with tears, and it about broke our hearts in a million pieces. Then I think he felt a little relieved. He’s enjoying trying out some new head wear, and today seems more relaxed in general. He showed his nurses and doctors today. He will likely lose the peach fuzz that’s left but this was all he wanted to cut for now. He also asked that I not shave my head as he wants me just to look like mom 🤷♀️. He’s happy to let any other boys do it with him lol.
Ronan also enjoyed his visits from his Auntie Kelsea and his cousin Finn. He’s been much more smiley and talkative, and himself these last few days which fills our hearts so much. We felt like he was disappearing in front of us but turns out a lot of that may have been the effect the dexamethasone had on him!
We are so thankful to hear him chattering about airplanes again.
Lots of good thoughts for tomorrow as we head into another procedure and sedation…another long few days of waiting. BUT also hopefully, home!!! 🤞🏻
