Beloved Friends, I wanted to tell you how grateful I am to you for your prayers, encouragement, kindness and generosity to me and my family during this time. I have completed 5 chemotherapy treatments and 2 immunotherapy treatments. The Lord has been gracious and has allowed me to endure the treatments with few significant side effects. I have one more chemotherapy treatment and then I will have a follow up PET scan and a consult with a thoracic oncology surgeon. At that point we will establish the next steps in my plan of care.
I have been given a difficult diagnosis, but I have good doctors and, more importantly, a Great Physician. I have hope in this for earthly healing and more years of productive service among you as a pastor, hospice chaplain, and friend. I am not afraid for myself because I know that my Redeemer lives and all my hope rests in Him.
So, in this moment I choose to be joyful for God's grace and lovingkindness toward me and my family. I am thankful for each of you and for your place in my life and look forward to many more years with you.
