Hi everyone,

For anyone who is only getting updates on Paxton from this page, you've likely been waiting 9 long days for news. There was an issue with posting last weekend on here. If you would also like to join our Facebook page, you can it here: https://www.facebook.com/share/zyGn74sVgua1phRQ/?mibextid=lOuIew

We post the same information on both, unless there are issue with one. An advantage of the Facebook page is the ability to post more pictures and videos at a time.

Let's start with last weekend! What a weekend it was. Camden, Grandma, and Zaydie came out to Omaha to visit Paxton. The social interactions helped him a lot. He's slowly showing signs of the old Paxton and taking an interest in things he typically likes.

Being able to leave the floor has helped a LOT! Through yesterday, he had gotten out of the room everyday. More on why he hasn't been out today below.

Music therapy came by on Friday the 14th. This brought the closest thing Paxton has shown of a smile since his surgery! He enjoyed playing the ukulele.

The NPO order that went into effect last Thursday is making Paxton very thirsty. The order was adjusted slightly to allow him to have some fluids as long as they still allow for the target fluid loss each day. He would like to have a lot more than he's getting, but it at least isn't 0. His output was good enough last Sunday to allow for a couple popsicles.

His chest tube output did steadily decrease over the weekend. By last Sunday it had dropped to under 600 mls, which is great improvement from 3 liters (3,000 mls)!

This week, his chest tube output kept trending down. One cardiologist called it "phenomenal progress". It kept going down enough that on Monday one chest tube came out, and on Thursday the other one came out. That means there are ZERO chest tubes in! On Friday, the oxygen was turned off so he was breathing fully on room air! He went back on a low flow in the evening, but is back on room air today.

What a bunch of GREAT news!

Now the bad part. Yesterday, Paxton wasn't looking quite right and had some diarrhea, so they did a viral panel. He came back positive for two viruses. It order to prevent spread to other immunodeficient patients, Paxton is isolated to his room for the time being. All things considered, this is MANY steps forward, and just one or two steps back. He's still in a much better spot than where he was 9 days ago.

Paxton is also slowly allowed to eat today. He was happy to have 5 strawberries this morning.

He is still going to be in Omaha for a little bit longer, but it is a big relief knowing he is on the right track towards going home.

Aaron and Elise
