Paxman's Surgery Support
Thank you everyone for those who have reached out this week. It is hard to respond to everyone with everything going on, but please know we see them and appreciate them. I know many people want to know how he is doing, and we will continue to update here as things change, good or bad.
Paxton is still intubated and stable. He's made baby steps in the right direction with the breathing support needed. He's now down to a point where we'll try to wean his paralytic a little to allow him to initiate breathes on his own, with the breathing tube still in to provide support on the full breath.
His kidneys have taken a hit this week, so we are being careful with what we do for diuretics. He might get a little puffy without them, but it is critical for his kidneys to remain functional.
Overall, Paxton is still in what I would call a delicate state. Baby steps each day is all we're looking for.
In the meantime, his file has been sent to children hospitals in Saint Louis, Denver, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis. They are all bigger heart facilities who have a lot of experience with heart transplants. We are hoping to hear back on willingness to accept him either this week or early next week.
