Progress Again

Hello everyone and Happy Independence Day!

Our last update was on Saturday morning when a chest tube went back in Paxton's right side. Since then, he has once again made great progress. As soon as the chest tube was inserted, over 400 ml of fluid flowed out of it in less than an hour. After that initial rush, the output slowed down quite a bit. It has gradually continued to decrease to where yesterday it was only 40 ml total in 24 hours!

There are still unanswered questions, such as if there is any flow through the fenestration "pop off valve," or what his venus pressures are. His vitals indicate things are working properly. The only way to know for certain would be a cath, which is not planned at the moment.

Paxton is starting to eat a little better while still on a low fat diet. Thank goodness for Elise's idea of homemade, low fat chicken nuggets!

For now it is a waiting game. If the output stays down, we will likely try without a tube again in a few days. In the meantime, we are working to keep Paxton in a normal-ish routine, with walks and healthy eating.

Thanks,

Aaron and Eilise
