Morning of wanting to go home

Good morning!

All in all, I'd say yesterday went as well is it could have possibly gone. Paxton was sedated most of the afternoon and early evening, going in and out of sleep while listening to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on a tablet in the background.

Overnight, as the sedation wore off, he did not get much sleep. Around 7am this morning he started thrashing, wanting to sit up and go home. For his own safety and comfort, he's back on another sedative dose and sleeping this morning. We will have morning rounds with the ICU team in the next hour or so to discuss the plan for today.

On a side note, since Paxton's last surgery 5 years, Children's Nebraska has opened their Cardiac Care Unit. This floor is designated for cardiac patients and allows Paxton to stay in the same room from yesterday through when he goes home. For while he's considered an ICU patient, there are ICU doctors assigned specifically to this floor. It's a great change versus being in the much louder general ICU post-op and then having to change rooms in the middle of the stay.
