Hi everyone,

Paxton crossed 48 hours post operation this afternoon and is continuing to make progress. During yesterday afternoon's cardiology rounds, the chief surgeon attended and said his vital numbers, particularly his pressures into his pulmonary arteries, showed the surgery being a "big win" so far.

Yesterday was all about rest and comfort. Today was about getting him moving a little bit and starting to eat and take some medication orally. He was able to stand up and take a few assisted steps to the rocking chair just before 11am. That was enough to wear him out for a couple hours. He ended up sitting/sleeping in the chair for 6 hours, which was a great position to help with his blood flow and fluid drainage. Around 5 he was able to walk assisted back to the bed.

He is taking some of his pre-surgery medicine orally again. He has had some strawberries, but then threw up a cup of apple sauce and has barely eaten anything else other than a couple small bites of crackers. Throwing up is normal post-fontain as his body has a lot to adjust to with its new blood flow.

Tonight the respiratory team is slowly weaning him off the high air flow, possibly getting into a smaller oxygen support sometime tomorrow.

Here is a picture of Paxton from this evening after getting back into bed from his afternoon in the chair.
