Hi friends, I know these updates come a little slower but I'm doing the best I can these days. 😅
Paisley has had a tough go around the last month so let me bring y'all up to speed. On 12/26/24 she tested positive for Covid. She started getting better after a few days but quickly got worse again. On 1/2/25 urgent care said she only had an ear infection and put her on antibiotics. 1/6/25 Paisley had basically stopped eating and I was not comfortable with her symptoms and the way she was feeling so we went to the ER. We was there for over 7 hours. They gave her a bag of fluids, said she was dehydrated, ordered a chest x-ray where they said she had a touch of pneumonia and her labs showed some elevated bloodwork. 1/7/25 we had a follow up with the pediatrician and they reviewed her ER X-ray and labs and called her oncologist to discuss a plan because she did not have a “touch” of pneumonia… she had full blown double pneumonia! So bad, in fact, that the pediatrician said “she’s probably got one of the worst outpatient cases I’ve ever heard”. So she had to get a three day course of Rocephin shots and the doctor sent a prescription for a z-pak. 1/14/25 we went to the urgent care, as requested by the pediatrician, for a repeat chest X-ray. 1/15/25 Paisley had a day full of appointments. We had to be in Charlotte at 7am for an EKG and echocardiogram. This wasn't our regularly scheduled testing.. it’s kind of a precaution due to another lovely side effect of Paisley’s chemo treatment. Unfortunately it can affect her heart functions and her last two echos have shown a decrease. So her oncology team are monitoring it a little more closely. After that appointment we went to clinic and was told her x-ray looked good, EKG was normal, and her heart functions were the same, if not a little better! Her labs were still a bit off but they assured me it was normal to look a bit off after all the sickness she has just went through. I do want to make a note here though about how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Paisley done for her lab draw! It has been something that she has struggled with from the beginning. It was time to get labs and in walked four or five nurses ready for the rodeo. 😅 But my sweet girl laid down on the table and it only took one had to steady her arm and she was so still while they drew her blood! She didn't even make a sound or move a muscle! We were all shocked and so proud of her. Everyone cheered and clapped when she was all done! I love that she done so well but at the same time it's kind of sad to see all the hard things that my baby girl has to get used to.
Next month will be Paisley's third round of scans which will mean she has been in treatment for NINE months! That's crazy! And then WE GO TO DISNEY!!! Yall please keep praying for her healing and pray we have the time of our lives in Florida and everyone stays healthy so that we can go! We love you guys and appreciate every single one of you. God bless.
