Hey everyone,

We’re a day out from surgery with Nolan. The doctor feels confident he was able to remove all of the affected areas!! Right now we’re still working to get his pain under control, and it’s been a tough stretch. Every breath hurts, and there’s no way around that, so we’d really appreciate prayers for his pain.

It was more involved than they expected. The plan going in was to remove one rib, possibly three. The tumor ended up being a little bigger than expected, so they had to take one of the three ribs back to the spine — something he didn’t want to have to do — and part of his diaphragm.

He’ll be in the ICU for a few days, then move to a regular room — or hopefully over to the pediatric oncology unit — as he continues to recover.

Today’s goal was to get him up, and he did it. Now it’s about managing his pain. Every single breath he takes is painful.

We’re grateful for the people who have been checking in and praying for him. It means the world.

💛
