Noah's Brain After Birth

When Noah was in the NICU, after an emergency C-section, his MRI showed bleeding in a delicate part of his brain called the germinal matrix. This happens a lot in very premature babies because the tiny blood vessels there are still weak and not fully formed. Even small changes in blood pressure or stress can make them break and bleed.
Some of the blood stayed in that fragile spot, but some leaked into the fluid-filled spaces in his brain called the ventricles. Doctors call this intraventricular hemorrhage, or IVH. It’s pretty common in preemies while their brains are still developing.

This bleeding can hurt the white matter around the ventricles—the part of the brain that controls movement, coordination, and how different brain areas talk to each other. That’s why Noah was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. His brain injury from those early days caused it.

Even with such a tough beginning, Noah has been incredibly strong. Therapies like DMI intensive help his brain create new connections and learn new skills. Every bit of support we give him builds the best possible foundation for him.
