Morgan's HURT100 Journey
The HURT100 is a 100-mile endurance run through Hawaii's rain forest above the city of Honolulu. Locally, it's referred to by ultra runners simply as "HURT".
The name doesn't just foreshadow the struggle runners face. HURT is an acronym for Hawaii Ultra Running Team, a tribute to some of the islands earliest ultra runners.
The combination of heat, vertical elevation (aka 'vert', 'gain'), technicality (roots, rocks, etc), and distance (100 miles) place in among the toughest ultramarathon races.
135 runners are permitted (via lottery) with ~40% completing.
