Hello Healing Village!

You have no idea how delighted I am to bring you my own personal update. 😊 First up -- I am home, and I am healing.

A Transformational Time

The two weeks after I was released from the hospital were quite challenging and I even had to be readmitted for a few days somewhere in there. Quite honestly, these were the hardest days of my life, and I am still unraveling all the grace and miracles that unfolded.

Suffice it to say that the experience transformed me. I now have a much greater understanding and appreciation of what it means to be carried by God. And for that I am so very thankful.

The Turnaround

Since last week, however, I am doing so much better. Every day I am getting stronger. This morning, I was even able to prepare my own breakfast by warming some leftovers. First time since pre-transplant. 😊

Contrast this to two weeks ago, when I could barely speak and walk and even had to be fed. (Special shout-out to my primary caregivers, my husband Willis and my sister, Pam, who both deserve EVERY goodness.)

A Special Treat

Another special delight… miraculously, I was able to make a surprise appearance at my dad’s 90th birthday celebration this past Saturday. Hence the attached pic. I had to isolate on my brother's gazebo, but I was there.

And family, even the day before, this would not have been possible. So much gratitude! Seeing my dad and family was manna for my soul.

Where I Am Now

The transplant season is marked by a 100-day journey (where I'm having to primarily isolate during this time), and I am on day 34.

My body continues to do the work of rebuilding my cells (which takes an extraordinary amount of energy) and all my key markers look fantastic. So, I am doing my part to rest and nourish my body and allow for this remarkable work to unfold.

AND because I'm on track, my doc has approved outdoor visits on my patio with family and friends. 😊

Profuse Thanks

Family, I will never be able to fully express what you have meant to me. Every prayer, every perfectly timed message, every gift… all these things have truly sustained me. And your generous donations have been incredibly helpful to me and my family. I love you and appreciate you beyond words. And I hope that all that you’ve done for us returns to you a thousand-fold.

ALL the love to you and yours!

Monica
