3rd trimester begins
January 18, 2026
*It’s scan week.*
We have no reason to believe the burden of disease has increased, but it is scan week nonetheless — and with it comes a wide range of emotions.
On Thursday January 22 at 9:30, Avry will receive her MIBG dye injection, along with CT scans of her chest, pelvis, and abdomen. She will also have her echocardiogram, and they will check her dye placement.
On Friday January 23 at 11:00, she will have the full MIBG scan, followed by surgery for her bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.
Please keep us in your prayers. Scan-xiety is a very real word in the cancer community. It can feel triggering and even nauseating as we wait and walk through these steps.
Pray that Avry experiences minimal pain after surgery and that we are able to keep her comfortable. And please pray for peace for each of us as we move forward into the next phase of treatment.
On Thursday, January 29, we will return to Dell Children’s to begin the next six-month phase of chemo and immunotherapy. This season will include five full rounds of both chemotherapy and immunotherapy, with the sixth round being chemotherapy alone. These rounds are 30 day cycles. As always, this will depend on how her body continues to respond and progress.
We stand on the brink of a continued but new chapter. We may not know what the next chapter holds, but we do know the Author. And as much as our flesh wants to run far, far away from hospitals and chemo and cancer, we choose to take the next step with courage and faith.
Thank you for praying, for believing, and for standing with us.
Psalm 23:4
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me.”
(We love to watch Avry recite this passage from A year ago—little did we know where we would be a year later)
